Marketing made simple....

Marketing decisions are made after alot of serious research. The how and why of buyers' purchasing decisions is the stuff of many books, videos, CD's, blogs and white papers! Months can go by before decisions are made, and then more months go by while the decisions are second guessed! It doesn't have to be this way. In fact, it's quite simple.

Your desireable product's shelf appeal will get the buyers attention so that they pick up your package and not your competitor's. How you do that is by giving your package its own distinctive look.

When your product is a knock off of another product, then giving your package a similar look is to your advantage. However, if it is a new product that will be competing with other, though different, products in the same market, then your own unique, distinctive packaging helps set you apart.

A new product launch does not have to be a national event....most major products were launched in a selective (read that 'test') market to see what works. Sometimes, even the failures are ways to gather information to move towards a successful new product presentation.

Work with your packaging vendors, see what they have to offer (either custom designed or in their inventory) and get it out there in a preliminary market test. You are checking appeal, sales, regional response and the effect of package designs. Overthinking gets you nowhere - except behind your competition.
